In three previous posts we have discussed a number of tourist destinations in Austrlaia namely: New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland. This time we will review tourist destinations in Tasmania. Tasmania is a state of Australia which consists of an island called Tasmania, which is the 26th largest island in the world, and 334 small islands in the vicinity.

 Here are the three most popular tourist destinations in there:

Leaning Church Vineyard

Australia is one of the countries producing wine alcoholic beverages (wine), the highest in the world. Almost in every country there are parts where vineyards and processing. Leaning Church Vineyard is one of the many vineyards in northern Tasmania.

Although relatively new, 6 hectare vineyard is included in the list of popular destinations for tourists not only can enjoy vineyard planted since the start 20 years ago, yet can also taste various types of wines such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc generated there. In addition, Leaning Church Vineyard also hosts special events such as barbeque night on weekends, as well as offering a package event like a birthday party or a wedding with a capacity of 150 people and 400 people.

Port Arthur

Approximately 60 miles from Hobart, capital of Tasmania, there is a small town called Port Arthur. Port Arthur is one of the regions in Australia with a very strong heritage. With an area of about 40 acres, this small town has more than 30 historic buildings, including a functioning prison in 1830 until 1877.

Name of Port Arthur is taken from the name of a governor who had served there, George Arthur. History records that in Port Arthur built a model of the system of holding prisoners hardened criminals from the UK and Ireland, where this place is located in a region that is difficult to achieve and abandoned, Alcatraz-like prison in the United States.
In Port Arthur, tourists also can visit Point Puer, where the boy was trained British trade; The Isle of the Dead, where there are ancient tombs from the 18th century; a museum exhibiting objects work the prisoners during their lives, and many more.

Port Arthur has been included in the list of UNESCO world heritage site in 2010, and each year around 250,000 foreign tourists visited the state.

Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG)

TMAG is a museum and art gallery integrated with the herbarium, which focuses on the objects of historic, scientific, and artistic. Based in Hobart, the museum aims to preserve objects that become cultural identity Tasmania.

TMAG was founded in 1843 by the aristocratic society of Tasmania. The building is magnificent and consists of two floors. The museum displays a diverse collection of the geological history of the island of Tasmania, Tasmanian native vegetation, indigenous population of Tasmania, the colonial period, and the history of Tasmania in general. While the art gallery featuring a diverse collection of colonial art from the period 1803 to 1930 and the work of the best contemporary art, as well as the history of money. Herbarium specimen displays a collection of plants from the early 1830s. At least there are more than 140,000 specimens of flowers, 5,000 specimens of fungi, 14,000 specimens of algae, 9,000 specimens of ferns, and many more.
TMAG open to the public every day, from morning to evening. The visitors can also relaxing in a cafe, or shop postcards, posters, toys, and souvenirs there. Especially for group visits, are required to make an appointment in advance.
